Floating Market
100km outside of Bangkok, Damnoen Saduak is Thailand's best known floating market, its international popularity comes, in no small part, from its use as a setting in the 1974 James Bond movie The Man with the  Golden Gun.
Hordes of tourist boats weave there way through the maze of canals stopping by stall after stall, vendors eager to sell them souvenirs. It's an unashamedly commercial (and somewhat tiresome) affair and as a result it lacks the authentic atmosphere I was  expecting, feeling more like a theme park than a real local market.
It’s interesting, when I look back through the photos I took that day, I completed the almost impossible task of avoiding any tourists! Maybe it was my way of creating that authentic atmosphere in my photos, a time when there were little tourists and it was just local people at their market going about their everyday lives.
